Munakata Taisha consists of three shrines, the Hetsugū, the Nakatsugū and the Okitsugū, each dedicated for one of the three Munakata Goddesses. Walking around the island of Ōshima, seeing Okinoshima in the distance.

The island of Ōshima, where Nakatsugū and the Okitsugū Yōhaijo is, is an island 7km off the main land of Kyūshū. Ōshima has a beautiful view of the Genkai sea and the sacred island, Okinoshima.

【About】A memorial monument for who died in the Battle of Tsushima, about 30 minutes from Okitsugū Yōhaijo. In 1905, the whole battle was witnessed from Okinoshima, and the dead were also washed ashore on Ōshima. This monument was built here in 2013.

【About】At the west end of the island is a rock called Batei-iwa. There are horseshoe-shaped patterns on the rock that are told to be the horse footprints when Tagorihime-no-kami, one of the three goddesses, jumped to Okinoshima.
