A memorandum of facts about shrines visited. Mitake shrine is a shrine located on the island of Ōshima, 7km from the mainland of Kyūshū. It is located on the top of Mount Mitake, the highest peak of the island, 224m high. As it is also called "Mitakegū" it acts as a rear shrine of Munakata Taisha Nakatsugū.

Summary

Mitake shrine is a shrine located on the island of Ōshima, 7km from the mainland of Kyūshū. It is located on the top of Mount Mitake, the highest peak of the island, 224m high. As it is also called "Mitakegū" it acts as a rear shrine of Munakata Taisha Nakatsugū and enshrines Amaterasu-ōmikami and Tagitsuhime-no-kami-no-aratama.

The remains of an ancient ceremonial place similar to what was found at Okinoshima have been found and is said that it is where the ritual ceremonies at Nakatsugū started.
