Kamado shrine, also called "Hōmangū", is a shrine located on the foot of Mount Hōman, in the north-east of Dazaifu city. Since Mount Hōman is in the "Kimon", the unlucky direction, of the Dazaifu government office, which governed Kyūshū from the 8th to the 12th centuries, the shrine was believed to provide protection of the direction. Kamado shrine, dedicated to Tamayorihime-no-mikoto, is also known to be the shrine of matchmaking.
