Shikaumi shrine~Visit

Location

Shikaumi shrine is located on the island of Shikanoshima in Higashi-ku, Fukuoka city, Fukuoka prefecture, about 12km from central Fukuoka city.

Opening hours

Gates are open between 6am and 5:30pm.

Reception hours for prayers are between 9am and around 5pm.

Amulets are available between 9am and 5pm.

Admission Fees

No admission fees required.

Shuin

Shuin is available at the "Juyosho", where charms and talismans are offered, next to the rōmon. ￥300 required.

Public transportation

The nearest station from Shikaumi shrine is Saitozaki station. From Hakata station, in central Fukuoka, about 10 minutes by JR Kagoshima line to Kashii station, and another 11 minutes from Kashii station to Saitozaki station by JR Kashii line.

From Saitozaki station, by Nishitetsu bus for Katsuma or Shikanoshima-shōgakkō, about 10 minutes to Shikanoshima bus stop, and a 5 minute walk from the bus stop. About 1 or 2 buses are operated per hour.

Saitozaki station is about 5km from the shrine, about 1 hour on foot.

By Fukuoka Municipal Ferry Service, about 30 minutes from Hakata passenger terminal to Shikanoshima passenger terminal, about 5 minutes to the shrine from the ferry terminal. Ferries are operated about once per hour.

From Tenjin-chūo-yūbinkyoku bus stop, in central Fukuoka, about 75 minutes to Shikanoshima bus stop by Nishitetsu bus for Shikanoshima-shōgakkō. About operated about once per hour, during day time.

Parking

There is a free parking lot in next to the shrine, available for about 200 cars.
