Kamado shrine~Visit

A memorandum of facts about shrines visited. Kamado shrine is a shrine located in Dazaifu city in Kyūshū. As it's location was in the 'Kimon', the unlucky direction, of the Dazaifu government office, it was worshipped to provide protection of this direction. Location

Kamado shrine is located in Dazaifu city, Fukuoka prefecture, about 14km from central Fukuoka city.

Address is 883 Uchiyama, Dazaifu city, Fukuoka prefecture.

Opening hours

Open all day.

Reception hours for prayers are between 10am and around 4pm.

Amulets are available between 9:30am and 6pm.

Admission Fees

No admission fees required.

Shuin

Shuin is available at the Juyosho. ¥500 is required.

Public transportation

The nearest station is Dazaifu station. From Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) station, in Fukuoka city, about 16 minutes by Nishitetsu Ōmuta line to Nishitetsu Futsukaichi station, change to Nishitetsu Dazaifu line, another 5 minutes to Dazaifu station. Some trains go directly from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) station to Dazaifu station. From Dazaifu station, Kamado shrine is about 2.6km away, a 30 minute walk.

From Dazaifu station to Kamado shrine, from Nishitetsu Dazaifu-ekimae bus stop, about 8 minutes by Dazaifu community bus 'Mahoroba' to Uchiyama (Kamado jinja-mae) bus stop. Buses are operated about 2 times per hour, during day time.

From Hakata station to Dazaifu station, it is about 40 minutes by Dazaifu Liner Bus 'Tabito' from Hakata Bus terminal to Dazaifu bus stop which is in front of Dazaifu station, and is the last stop. 1 or 2 buses operated per hour on weekdays, and 3 or 4 on weekends.

Parking

There are 2 toll parking lots at the entrance of the shrine, available for a total of about 50 cars. The parking fee is ¥400 for a regular sized car.

The parking lot is only for visitors to the shrine between 9am and 5pm, and cannot be used by mountain climbers to Mount Hōman during these hours. There is another parking for mountain climbers near the trail head of the mountain path.
